In the picture, two tourists, enjoying a delightful boat trip on the lake, are dropping litter(垃圾) recklessly(不在意地) into the lake —— a behavior that makes themselves as well as the scenery not beautiful at all. And unfortunately, the lake is already littered with(be littered with.. 充满..的) a clutter of garbage(一堆垃圾), which has spoiled(毁坏、破坏) the previously scenic(风景优美的) lake. What is reflected in the picture is troubling many scenic spots today. However, if everyone lacked environmental awareness, standing by(袖手旁观) and seeing environment hurt, the beautiful spots, even our whole country, would be swallowed up(吞没) by rubbish one day.

To avoid this kind of tragedy(悲剧), the whole society should take actions to protect our home. For one thing, everyone should realize the importance of protecting the environment and start small by no littering at will(随意) and stopping others from doing that timely(及时地). For another, relevant authorities(相关部门) should establish sound(形容词，健全的) and efficient laws and regulations(规定) on environmental protection, supervise(监督) effectively and punish law breakers severely.
